Is an employer suppose to fire a person over the phone/answering machine/voicemail or in person.?

i was working at a daycare and the employer gave me a phone call at home and i didnt get to the phone in time and she left a message and said that she couldnt use me because the kids were sone big word and that she was going to use one of the other teachers to watch my class untill she found some one to take my place.

There is no law against firing a person by phone. It isn't very polite or professional to do it by leaving a message, but it's perfectly legal.

The state I am from is a ( hire and fire ) at will state,But you can not fire anyone over the phone. For 1 it's againest the law to fire someone over the phone

in person, doing it on an answering machine is showing that they have no descentcy to tell you in person.
